Asaduddin Owaisi: The Voice of the Muslim Minority

Asaduddin Owaisi is a politician from India and the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a political party that represents the Muslim minority in India. He is a four-time Member of Parliament (MP), representing the Hyderabad constituency in Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India.

Owaisi was born in 1969 in Hyderabad to Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi and Najmunnisa Begum. He comes from a political family of Hyderabad. His grandfather Abdul Wahed Owaisi relaunched the political party Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen as All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen on 18 September 1957.

Owaisi studied law at the Osmania University in Hyderabad and then went on to practice law. He entered politics in 1994 when he was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was re-elected to the Assembly in 1999 and 2004.

In 2004, Owaisi was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time. He has been re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009, 2014, and 2019.

Owaisi is a popular leader among the Muslim minority in India. He is known for his fiery speeches and his outspoken criticism of the BJP and other Hindutva organizations. He has also been a vocal critic of the government’s handling of the Kashmir issue.
